What a thoughtful and kind video! I very much appreciated you including price breakdowns. One thing I do is put salt, pepper, and any herbs and seasoning in the butter I put under the skin. So yummy! Thank you for sharing.

Loved the video. And yes lots of families are struggling. Would love to see more ideas.  I take a box of rice a roni or pkg of knorr rice mix and use chicken for chicken flavored and gr beef for beef flavored, cook the meats or use leftovers, cook the rice pkg and just before done add the meat of choice and a can of drained peas, or corn, or green beans or cooked chopped brocc, mix and eat,  good tasting and very inexpensive meal. If you have it and want you could have buttered bread, garlic toast, biscuits, cornbread. Thanks so much for sharing, take care, be blessed and be safe. P.S you could sub gr sausage or cut up rope sausage for the beef, or gr turkey.

When I was growing up my mom made a dish that was pork n beans or baked beans in a baking dish and she wrapped bacon slices around wieners and played them on top of the beans and baked in the oven until bacon was crispy. Sometime she would sprinkle cheese on the beans before adding the wieners. She served, what some call hot water cornbread on the side.

I grew up eating the Depression casserole with either cut up hot dogs or ground beef depending on how much money mom had. She also served it with Jiffy cornbread and it stretched really well and was filling. I make it for my boys at lunch now.

One of the dishes my parents made for us growing up was a little bit maybe a pound of hamburger mixed in with a box of mac and cheese with a can of peas. You don't have to add the butter and milk if it is sparse.
