HIV

HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. According to World Health Organization, about 40.1 million people have lost their lives due to this as of 2021. In this article, we’ll explain in depth what is HIV and how it is very dangerous for humans. We’ll also provide you with some of the latest developments in this regard.

What is HIV

it is a virus that attacks the immune system of the human body. The immune system is essential for humans as it helps to fight against infections and diseases. Without proper care, HIV can lead to AIDS which can further lead to death. AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Experts are still trying to figure out how they can cure the patient suffering from AIDS.

When it Happened

The spread of HIV began in 1981. Today, this virus is becoming one of the most common health issues for humans. Millions of people have lost their lives due to HIV while millions of cases can be still found in the world.

Why it is Dangerous

HIV attacks the immune system of the human body by destroying some specific white blood cells. The white blood cells are CD4+ T cells. These cells are very essential for the human body because they help it to fight against infections. After the loss of these specific white blood cells, the human body becomes very vulnerable to infections and diseases.

Types of HIV

There are two types of HIV viruses, first is HIV1 and second is HIV2. HIV1 cases can be found all over the globe but the HIV2 is most common in West Africa. HIV1 spreads more rapidly and can lead to AIDS much faster than HIV2.

Latest Developments

Today, scientists and experts are trying to figure out how they can cure the disease of human immunodeficiency virus. Over the last 40 years, they have made significant advancements to develop a cure or vaccine that can help HIV patients to stop transmitting this virus and make them feel healthy. Researchers are trying to develop a vaccine that can control the spread of this virus.

ARV Treatment

While it is not clear how to completely eradicate HIV from the human body, the treatment of  ARV (Antiretroviral Therapy) along with some medicines can be very useful for them. With this treatment, doctors can control it in a patient and make him feel comfortable. It can take about months for a patient to control HIV.

How it Works

Antiretroviral Therapy or simply ARV is a very useful method to control the spread of HIV in the human body and prevent it from becoming AIDS. HIV becomes AIDS when specific white blood cells, the CD4+ T become lower than a limited amount. This therapy helps to prevent the destruction of white blood (CD4+ T) cells by the this Virus. These preserved cells can help the human body to fight against diseases for longer. Without these white blood cells (CD4+ T), the immune system becomes very weak, and the human body can suffer from various infections which can even lead to death.
